2011 was another successful year for the Community Services Committee. Many thanks to Phyllis Talbert and her team for organizing many events and drives for GMDM.
December was a special month for GMDM. We collected hundreds of toys for our Annual Toy Drive. Major Paul Egan with The Salvation Army spoke to our December luncheon and shared how the toys are distributed throughout the year as well as Christmas. First time visitor, Curtis Hines, Marketing Director with Kindred Hospital won the 50/50 drawing of $155. Curtis immediately turned his winnings in the spirit of giving to The Salvation Army. What a great guester! Out going President David Haynes presented a 30 minute slide presentation accompanied to music honoring our GMDM history. Part of the program was to recognize all of the local organizations and charities that GMDM contributed to in 2011.

Our August luncheon will feature the Teachers Warehouse School Supply drive. Bring your school supplies to donate to area teachers. According to nation surveys, teachers spend between $500 and $800 per year of their own money to help supply their classrooms. Join GMDM to help support the effort and let's give a "special thanks" to our teachers. Get your Offices and Practices involved!
