The After 5 Social was held at Printworks Bistro at Proximity Hotel on Thursday, May 17 from 5 to 7 pm. Thanks to Betsy Sweetser with Advanced Home Care for providing the food and to Bruce Barton with Cone Health Physician Partners for the door prize. Mary Jean Nelson with The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging won the door prize, a $50 GC to Friendly Center.

May Luncheon Recap
The May luncheon was well attended by 90 members and guests. Thanks to all who brought guests. A special "sendoff" to our long time friend, Major Paul Egan with The Salvation Army was given. Paul and his family will be relocating to Dallas Texas.
Abbotswood at Irving Park host a Farmers Market stand every Thursday at their Flynt location from 8 am to noon.

GMDM member, Karen McKeithen Schaede, Attorney at Law presented a great meeting on "Social Media and Your Practice". Information covered was Privacy & Security under HIPAA, Liability Isssues, Employer/Employee Aspects and National Labor Board reports on Social Media.

A financial contribution in honor of Karen speaking was made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Associate Member Table top was provided by Carol Hunt with Carolina Specialty Products. Carol gave a door prize away and the winner was Rita Smith with First Point Collection Resources who won a beautiful plant.
Member Table top was provided by Kelli Pratt and her team from The Hearing Clinic. Present were owner Tami Ike, Au.D and new doctor from Kansas, Jessica Rhodes, Au.D. May is National Hearing Month.
The Hearing Clinic door prize winners were Peggy Smith with The Elder Law Firm and Lisa Haymore with Guilford Orthopaedics. Each won a beautiful coffee mug set.
Overall door prize winner from The Hearing Clinic was Susan Russell with Alfred Williams & Company. Susan won a $25 GC to Macaroni Grill
Puzzler Prize Winner was GMDM Past President, David Haynes with Comfort Keepers. David found the Puzzler prize answer in the May newsletter located in the TAS Communication ad. He won a $50 GC to any of the Quaintance-Weaver Restaurants. The prize was donated by longtime GMDM member, Danny Rudisill with Piedmont Printing & Graphics.
The 50/50 Cash Raffle collected $230. The winner takes home half ( $116.50). Winner was Danny Rudisill, President of Piedmont Printing & Graphics.
Collaborative Events Chair, Sherri Wall McMillen gave us a "Save the Date" for an upcoming workshop at The Painted Plate to discuss EMR's. Date is for Thursday, June 21st at 8 AM. Details to follow for registration.
The first annual GMDM Charity Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, August 2nd at the Greensboro Country Club's Carlson Farm course. David Haynes made an announcement about recruting members and doctors to partipate. One of the two non profit organizations that will benefit from the proceeds of the tournament was represented at the lunch. Lisa Duck, Executive Director of Guilford Adult Health and Guilford Adult Dental spoke about the importance of dental services to the uninsured and the underinsured residents of Guilford County. Lisa brought two guests with her representing Guilford Adult Dental; Dr Alan Suskin, DDS and Jaime Powers, Certified Dental Hygentist.
The Associate Spotlight was Jane Cockman with First Citizen's Bank of 31 years. Jane is a long time GMDM member having served on many committees. First Citizen's Bank has been a loyal financial supporter of GMDM and Bosses Night for many years. Mary Ealley, owner of GSO Printing gave the podium recognition for Jane.
Our spring After 5 Social is Thursday, May 17th at Printworks Bistro on the patio. Live music, drinks and food are provided. Come relax with your GMDM buddies. Cone Health and Advanced Home Care are providing the food and the door prize. Time: 5 to 7 pm.

April Luncheon Recap
Chip Baggett, Director of Legislative Relations for the North Carolina Medical Society discussed many legislative issues and forthcoming elections informations of candidates that are running for office. A donation will be made in honor of Chip Baggett to Peacehaven Farms.

Attendance was 91 with many guests and new members. Becky Crenshaw, Past President of the North Carolina Society of Medicine's Alliance, Greensboro Chapter promoted the Alliance and the importance of our practice doctors and physicians' spouses getting involved. She also invited us to the D'Vine Wine Silent Auction event to raise money for their association.
Molly Carroll with Spine & Scoliosis Specialists won a box of chocolates from Loco Coco donated by Joni Merrill with Piedmont Home Care.

Our annual Clothing Drive was a success! Hundreds of clothes and accessories were collected which will be distributed to The Women's Resource Center and Goodwill Industries.

February 2012 Membership Luncheon Recap
Our February 15th membership luncheon was attended by 91 members, guests and potential members. Thanks to all who brought guests. Many new members were in attendance wearing the red "New Member" ribbons. Make sure you welcome all new members and get them connected.
Tommy Riggins with Dynamic Quest was our guest speaker. The topic was "Social Media in the Workplace. Tommy shared with us ideas on a successful social media platform in our practices of "to do's" and "what not to do's".

January 2012 Membership Luncheon Recap
Our January 18th membership luncheon was a success with over 96 in attendance and many guests and potential members. Thanks to all for bringing guests. Three new members were recognized and welcomed.
Judy West, new 2012 President presided over the luncheon meeting.
All Committee Chairs gave a brief commercial on their committee roles and responsibilities.
Outgoing President, David Haynes was presented a glass desk placque for his 2011 service as President.

Joanie Cochran, our guest speaker educated the group on "Revenue Cycle Management" and how to maximize your receipts and minimize your losses. A financial donation was made in honor of Joanie to the Alcohol & Drug Services of Greensboro.
President Judy West closed with thoughts from an elderly gentleman that looked over his life and realized how precious life is and how he would laugh more, serve more and make the best of every moment that is given.
Reminders of membership renewals due Feb 1st are due. Everyone is encouraged to sign up for a committee.
